June 16, 2001 - DAX Rich Text File generation add to hillsystems.com

DAX RTF file generation has been incorporated into the Hill Systems website, demonstrating the flexibility of DAX in rendering multiple views of the same content. Along with generating RTF, the Projects section of the site can render the content as a web page, printable page, plain text, and XML. Future plans are to also generate PDF files.

Additional enhancements to DAX include using the JAXP interface to get an XML parser, as opposed to referencing the Apache xerces parser directly. This follows standard practice and allows for alternate, JAXP-client, parsers to be used.

June 10, 2001 - DAX development nears beta release

Hill Systems is nearing beta release of its XML processing system, DAX, the Document Automation with XML framework. DAX provides facilities for parsing, organizing and accessing XML content to be merged with a variety of document formats, include HTML and Rich Text Format (MS Word) files. Possible domains that could benefit from DAX include website development, form letter generation, and catalogs.

The DAX framework is written in Java, allowing DAX to be incorporated with servlets and Java Server Pages.

June 10, 2001 - New website launched

Hill Systems launched its new website which also doubles as a demonstration of various technologies being developed by Hill Systems. Chief among the new technologies is DAX, the Document Automation with XML framework. hillsystems.com uses DAX in conjunction with Java Server Pages to implement its dynamic content, including its projects pages and news page.

This new site is also built on open-source technologies, including Apache web server, Apache Tomcat servlet engine, the Apache xerces and xalan XML processors, and Redhat Linux.
